Lawrence Liang


Lawrence Liang is a second generation Australian born Chinese artist whom lived in Shanghai from the ages of 1 to 7. He recently completed his bachelor’s in civil engineering and architecture at the University of Sydney and is due to graduate at the end of 2019. Lawrence currently works at Conybeare Morrison as a Project Coordinator coordinating documentation, submissions and interface management between Urban Design, Engineering and construction on large scale infrastructure developments.

Since co-founding ANL Design in 2017 with Anson Li; ANL Design has found relative success. In 2018, ANL exhibited ‘Closer’ as part of Vivid Sydney 2018. ANL Design was one of the youngest teams at the festival and the entire installation was fabricated and designed by the two friends; transforming over 1000 m of timber into a 9 by 7.5 m light maze. ANL Design was shortlisted for Guangzhou Light Festival, Parramatta Lanes as well as being selected for Bathurst Light Festival in 2018. This year, Lawrence is an artist and project manager on 3 of the 50 Light Walk installations at Vivid Light Festival 2019 including ‘Harmony’, ‘Let it Snow’ and ‘Nostalgia Above’.
